Join us at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Carnegie-Schadde Memorial Public Library, 230 Fourth Avenue, Baraboo, WI to learn about the rich variety of woody plants native to southern Wisconsin and the benefits of incorporating them into your home landscape to help attract and sustain a diversity of bird and pollinator species. This event is co-sponsored by Powered Up Baraboo and Four Elements Organic Herbals.
David Garison Stevens, Curator of Longenecker Horticultural Gardens, the living collection of woody plants at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, will present this program. David became the garden’s third curator in 2015. His work background includes tree breeding and selection, greenhouse facility management, public garden supervision, and commercial vegetable production. He has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Horticulture from Virginia Tech and U.W.-Madison, respectively. When not at the Arboretum, he helps run a 130-acre certified organic farm near Baraboo, WI with his wife Jane, with whom he was awarded the prestigious Organic Farmer of the Year award by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service in 2020.
